Hi
Just wondering if anyone knows that the best savings account is, which allows you to set up a standing order/direct debit. I have an ICICI savings account and ING account, but neither appear to have the facility to set up a standing order/direct debit (i could be wrong on this-if so, how do i set up up a so/dd from either of these)
Thanks

Both accounts allow you to set up a recurring transfer (collected by direct debit) on their transfer pages.0

Usually with savings accounts you can only set up so/dd to make deposits to the account - not to make withdrawals from the account.
However, there are some where you can make BACS withdrawals from the account to anywhere (ie. not restricted to transfer to a pre-set linked account) - eg. Cahoot, Egg, Halifax, Northern Rock. It may be that one of these might allow you to set up "regular withdrawals" (ie. equivalent to an SO) - but I haven't tried so I can't say one way or the other.0 -
Halifax Websaver certainly allows standing orders to be made from it.[pays 4.65% I think]. Cahoot allows future dated single payments [but not true 'standing order' payments] Egg only allows single 'manual' payments [i.e. no future dating] but has the adorable feature of allowing you to make instant deposits into it from your debit card and then pay these on......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0
