The Ironing Board

Options
My iron needs descaling and I've bought some all purpose liquid descaler. The instructions advise that the manufacturers instructions should be checked prior to using the descaler as some manufacturers do not recommend descaling. Unfortunately I've lost the instructions guide. Does anymone have the instructions for a Bosch steam iron and if so, can they check whether I can put a desclaer in it.

http://www.bosch.com/ may help... though can get new irons (not sure if same spec) quite cheaply at argos, woollies etc.

  • Should be fine using descaling liquid in an iron. Use it when the iron is cold, put some direct in the sole plate holes too, set the steam control to max or press the flush/cleaning button and leave to stand for half an hour with the sole plate downwards in the sink or drain board. Flush through with clean water a few times to remove the liquid and loose limescale. Then fill it with clean water again and switch the iron on and use it full steam on an old towel.

Try using white vinegar a little in the iron every time you use it will not hurt and will keep the scale away - I have used this method for years and it has never failed me
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
