Orchid dialler occasionally not routing calls

I've noticed that my V4 Orchid dialler is occasionally not routing calls as per my set up. So far it's done this with 2/4 calls over the last couple of weeks. A couple have been about 9am and a couple around 4pm - all fortunately local calls. I've checked the routing table which is fine.

Anyone else had this problem?

I have. In the months we've had it, I noticed that one or two calls were not routed via Call18866 as they were meant to. Thankfully though we are in credit with OneTel so when calls were defaulted by to them (due to CPS) it never cost us anything.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Noted that actually first time yesterday and thought it might have been me. It put a call through my CPS instead of BT. a second call to the same number a few minutes later (with no changes made to the dialer) had gone through BT. I wonder what Orchid would say about this.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Have you mentioned that other people have noticed this problem? Otherwise they may think it's just your setup and something you may be doing wrong!?!?!
  • It happened to me once.... but I know why.... I dialled the number (actually I thought I'd misdialled) put the phone down and dialled again quickly.... so perhaps it can't cope reliably with calls a short space apart ?
There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice

Have also had this problem, about 1 or 2 calls out of about 40 a month. My routing table had not been changed for about 6 months.

After a number of e-mails to Orchid, the outcome was ...

1... The calls may have been mis-dialled (all calls made from phonebook).
2... The override code had been used (never used)
3... A problem with the BT routing or call service provider system.

Finally installed a Call Logger on the BT master socket.
Found that the Orchid dialler was failing to route some calls.
Call log on my Dect phone system showed that the call had been dialled correctly.
The Call Logger showed that the Orchid Dialler failed to route the call.
After presenting this evidence to Orchid they promptly replaced the dialler.

Since replacing the dialler have had no further miss routed calls (about 6 weeks)
  • I've also had calls not routed. Cost me a few quid on the BT line today, and it happens when you hang up and dial another number quickly. It does not route...... How did you get a replacement?

    Cheers

I had emailed them before all the replies came through here. We'll see what they say - still waiting on an answer.

In my case it was single calls made at random times.

What is the Call Logger and how did it help to show what had happened. In my case the number was in my phone's phonebook so it was definitely not dialled wrongly.
