A lez-tastic triple bill of Brit TV heaven gets a DVD release this month, and nothing short of the full set should adorn every self-respecting dyke’s shelves. All based on true life stories, Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit is Jeanette Winterson’s own funny/ sad coming-of-age tale set in 1970s’ Lancashire, Portrait of A Marriage goes back between the wars to uncover the great love between authors Vita Sackville-West and Violet Keppel, while Daphne is last year’s excellent drama documenting the colourful love life of Daphne du Maurier, which included infatuations with glamorous American socialite Ellen Doubleday and the actress Gertrude Lawrence. There are standout elements in all three – they all have many a sexy moment. You see, there was life pre-L Word.
