Forgotten laptop password

Hopefully someone out there can help with this - my daughter's friend borrowed her laptop and changed the password. She has now forgotten what she changed it to, so we are stuck with a computer we can't use. :eek: Short of throttling the friend (tempting but not very effective), does anyone have any advice on how to get it going? It is running Windows Vista (home premium I think), and obviously we didn't create a password backup disk. Any advice greatfully accepted.

Download the vista ophcrack live cd http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/download.php
Then burn it to a disc using your preferred burner or use this http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/
Then put it in the computer at boot up, hopefuly the computer should boot from the disc other wise tap on boot up:

- {F2} (modern Phoenix BIOSes)
- {Ctrl}+{Alt}+{Esc}
- {Ctrl}+{Esc}
