Hubby cut himself shaving and got blood on his white shirt collar, sprayed it with Vanish (we didn't read the instructions! and left it to dry). The sprayed area has now gone yellow and will not come clean. I have sprayed it again and washed it straight away, used ACE bleach and even left it soaking in bleach and water but it's still yellow!
Has anyone any ideas please how to get it white again??
Thanks

Why not try soaking the whole shirt in a Vanish solution and then washing it."This site is addictive!"

Oh dear, what a pity you didn't use just cold water and a bar of soap.
Blood is really easy to remove. The next time just run the cold water tap on the blood stain and rub gently with a bar of soap. The blood will rinse away. There's no need for Vanish or bleach products.;) Then wash the garment in Persil automatic powder but don't use fabric softener. I always use Persil on whites.........to keep them white.
With the stain you've 'fixed' using Vanish and bleach products, I would be tempted to still try the bar of soap and cold water anyway. Then wash (follow the care label) using Persil automatic powder but don't use any fabric softener.
If the stain is still there, I'm afraid it's due to 'fixing' the stain.......but you'll know next time.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
For blood..............just soak area in cold water and pour on some salt and leave to soak.
It works.
Hubby could try shaving before he puts his shirt on. Or stops bleeding.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Isn't the golden rule of men shaving or having spots that bleed is that you must always put on a spotless white shirt so that you can discover that you're bleeding!0

Sometimes, after it has dried so it's safe to put on a shirt, the cut site will itch and without even thinking you scratch it or rub it and take the newly forming dry stuff off and in about two seconds flat you get a bloody collar.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. There's also the explanation that it's the stiff collar that rubbed it off, it wasn't your fault at all, the shirt did it!0

True enough! I'd forgotten that one. It's been quite a while since I last shaved.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
