  • apparently there are 37 pounds worth of coupons in the latest somerfields magazine and theses are being taken by tescos - or so i read somewhere on here lol

In my one store they were telling cashiers that if Somerfield/Sainsburys vouchers are handed over at the tills to call the supervisor immediately as they cannot be reimbursed for them. So locally I cannot use them, although I expect where Somerfield/Sainsburys is more of a threat/competition they are accepted no probs.

I occasionally use Somerfield and Sainsbury coupons at Tesco, in a batch of mixed coupons. They only rarely refuse them in my area, and they all scan fine.

I had a funny experience the other day, at a Tesco metro where they only take one coupon without buying the product. I handed the girl one which she wasn't keen to accept as it was a magazine one that they may not stock there....so she said have you got a Sainsbury one, we take those!

Fished out a £1 Green and Black's coupon (Sainsbury's only, came from their mag the other month) she smiled happily and scanned it. Daft, really, as they could have redeemed the magazine one as Tesco do stock it elsewhere...

Oh you really must be more brave in the New Year kool-mumma! There is a lot of money to be saved!!

There's an Asda near me that are lovely about coupon-use, you could pay your whole bill in coupons if you had enough good ones (not supermarket store mag or book tokens though!).

Last month I got 2 Simpsons box-sets at their electricals counter and asked if they had the same coupon-policy as at the tills. The girl checked, they said yes, no problem, so I handed over about £20-worth of cereal coupons and other manufacturers' ones (bought cheaply from eBay) which was about 70% of the bill!

Then I bought my food, went to the till and used another £20-odd of coupons there too. They were all redeemable, in-date ones mind, I don't want to use any others there as their policy is just so good.

Back on topic, has everyone used up your H&B coupons today? I did, apart from those surplus ones I shared out at the school gate last week.

  • I used a newspaper £5 one with some of the ones Welshy sent my way. The cow at the till was quite strict though so I paid £12 surplus. Also, the till would only take 3 50 points vouchers!! Anyway I got three Olay products that I wanted anyway and they were already half price so I didn't do bad really.
Will try and be brave tonight when I go in to do my christmas food shop. Will let you know later. Not had much luck at all this week!!!

  • ah well, if it's a discount off something you wanted anywhich which was already half pricd i think you can afford to feel a warm glow anyhow, even if you didn't get to use millions of coupons :D

i need to find my £5 newspaper coupon, no idea where it is! but if i am clever about it i can get a huge discount off the CD i want, and then give the toiletries to the women's shelter because i don't have anywhere to store them, already done 40 or 50 pounds worth lol!

  • Went to Tesco and my shopping came to just over £60. Included in that was £20.10 before bogof of toiletries. Handed over some H & B vouchers and all he'd take was 1 x £1 and 1 x 50 points. He spent about 5 minutes checking my receipt to see what I'd bought and in the end said that was all he could take. By that time I'd had enough anyway cos the queue was massive. Going to go back to Asda for my shopping as I prefer their stuff anyway.
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

Strange isn't it? I also bought some of the smaller Sanex this morning and they did go through on BOGOF at the higher discount (as previously posted). I wonder if Mr T is now putting this right and you bought yours when they were changing the BOGOF amount at HO?

Which colour Sanex did you buy out of interest, I got 2 each of the blue ones (moisturising, and shampoo/bodywash) but noticed there was a cream one there too.

P.S. Just spotted you posted it on the misprices thread too, so go get them now anyone who wants to use up their H&B vouchers or Daily Mail £5 off £20 coupons! I expect they will add the proper BOGOF amount into the tills soon though...
