If you think it's time to give up your ciggies, it's cheaper to go onto Nicotine Replacement Therapy if you go to your docs or NHS Stop Smoking Service than buying them over the counter.
Also phone the gas and electricity companies and get your bills! It's got to be done sooner or later, and believe me it gets complicated to prove how long you've lived there and how much of the bill is yours, particularly if the last people never closed their account properly...
Can you overpay on your loan, if yes, there's no point having savings, if no, keep your savings making you pay the minimum on your CC and try and have as much of it cleared as possible when 0% finishes.

  • It was a new build house when i moved in so all the bills will be mine. To be honest i ain't got a clue who provides the gas and leccy as the meters have nothing on them.
I can't over pay on the loan till i can pay the bills as i don't want to get screwed with having no money to pay them.
Once the transfers are complete i can cancel credit cards with about 20k limits on them so i reckon my credit rating is pretty good and should be able to get another 0% card.

Tom, i'll try the phoning and cancelling Sky.

Hi just wanted to say I really really don't think that you should put your money in savings. That type of scam is for people who have no debt problem but for someone like you something would definately come up that required the money I really think there is no way you would be able to keep it there until the end of your 0% and then just pop it on your debts.
Emergencies do happen and the first thing you would do is go to your savings.
Hope that helps. Also if you are not ready to stop smoking there is a book called how to stop smoking which advises you NOT to stop smoking until you have finished reading it! It is by Allen Carr. Perhaps you could get that from your local library and then you would feel you were doing something worthwhile towards the smoking thing. That way you wouldn't feel guilty about the money you are wasting on it and you could hype yourself up to do it at the end of the book.
    Hope that helps,
    Kind hugs, :)

Also find out about those meters. Our old landlady had some kind of saving scheme thing going on and we lost £5 every time we put money on them

Have you tried getting an online quote for M&S Pet insurance? I managed to get a £0 excess for £10.66 a month!

can't see how having savings can be a scam. If an emergency comes up and i've paid my savings off my debts what do i use for the emergency?

House is mortgaged and the rent is to the housing association for the remaining 40%. There's no landlord / lady to tap into the meter and take anything.
