It's def a Sunday pm.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thanks for making me laugh out loud.
Got a totally, unbelievably crud week ahead of me.....0 -
Shall we swap work? I've got an equally rubbish week.
That's a deal...you will have to deal with a factory whose working practises are stuck in 1953 (I think it's because the owner drinks), forgets everything, won't back up anything with an e-mail and can't open specs with word as his PC is from 1972...so I have to print and post.
Agrees to dealines by his timelines and then doesn't meet them so causing me massive grief with corp clients.
Also sent critical customs doc by 1st class post last week (errr...there is a strike on) when specifically asked to post special......he thought that meant 1st class..and it is lost....and customs won't release goods so we are being charged storage, customs won't accept a copy so we have to apply for another one.
Do you want more? Cos it gets worse.0 -
Naming a general area would be a bit pointless, as my OP stated that I was referring to specific properties - which narrows the area down a lot. So no, I'm not going to name them.
Or give rightmove links.
My stalkers will have to be disappointed, I'm afraid.
My stalkers will still be disappointed, I'm afraid. But here's a happy way round it.
Here is an area I know well, as I used to live there. I have no intention of ever buying there, and it's a sufficiently long road that even a very determined stalker would find the trail ran cold...
However, thanks to a post elsewhere by ruggedtoast, I was moved to look up the old place, and compare selling prices then (2003) with now. Six years ago.
Guess what?
They're still the same.
Here's the link to my post:

Enjoy.
Oh, and PS, I compared renting too, just for old time's sake. We paid £900 then, for a very poorly decorated flat. Rightmove currently have a much better looking one for ...£930 (asking - not let, as there are lots of cheaper flats...) So even assuming they do get the extra £30/month, and ignoring the decor...£30 extra, in 6 years?
Hardly justifies all the 'rents are shooting up' headlines, does it? :rotfl:0 -
Oh come on now.
chucky, julieq, ISTL, you wanted specific links.
I give you specific links, but ones that don't place me in any danger, and I am met with...silence.
I can't wait to hear your arguments about how the 'verifiable data' is wrong.
Or are you only interested in evidence that fit into your pet theory? Hmmm.0 -

young cleavers blown your theory already...0 -
Hardly - if you can buy a flat at 2003 prices, which I've shown you can, then why pay more?
Out of interest, chucky, I'd love to see your take on my point re rental prices, too.

because not everyone will need to sell at 2003 prices as Cleaver has noted.
it's also a bit subjective too because we don't know the state of repair or even the specs of those properties that sold higher or lower.
i agree with you that there are bargains to be had but not as many as people may assume.
what was your point on rentals?0 -
Are you both talking about the other thread? I commented on that, but as the subject is on here too, I'll pass comment here too if that's ok...
Why are you so concerned about the prices in 2003? You can't go back in time to buy then so it's pointless to spend time arguing about it. What you should concentrate on is what prices may be in 6 to 12 months time compared with today.
I sometimes think certain people on here just argue for argument's sake. It's very childlike."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0
