hi guys i just moved into a new house, and i need to sort out all utility bills onto my name.
The vendor is not answering mobile phone calls, is there anything i can do? or is it just a case to wait for a bill to come and then see what company it is and ring them to say i moved in x date so bill me from that period? i also have a problem with the broadband as it seems SKy saying its still registered with someone else i am lost :-( anybody else been in this situation??

If you phone any utility company and say that you are thinking of switching to them for the supply in your new house, they will be able to tell you who the supply is currently with and sort a switch out for you if that's what you want to do (or you can decide to stay with the exisiting supplier but at least will know who that is)
Obviously you need meter readings from the time you moved in. If there's likely to be any dispute about the meter reading consider taking a photo of it.
For the broadband, we had this when we moved. It took the vendors broadband supplier 3 weeks to disconnect him (even though he'd asked for this to happen from the day he moved) and until this was done, our broadband company couldn't reconnect us. One of the hassles of moving house I suspect!0 -
is there any websites to show me the cheapest utility (gas/electric) in my area/street?

thanks i went on the site and it shows i could save some money... is it wise to contact the existing supplier with meter reading or switch now with new meter reading? i was thinking that as the existing supplier doesn't know i am now own the property is it wise to tell them first?0

I would defo take a note of the meter reading in case the current supplier ask for it but, when I moved out of my last house I took a meter reading in order to finalise my account so hopefully your vendor did the same.
You will prob owe the current supplier a small amount as the new supplier may take a couple of weeks to arrange connection so I would also take a meter reading on the day your new supplier connects you.
I am not an expert in this field just going by past experience.Excited for Florida - May 2012 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
