Central Heating with a mind of it's own! We need some help!!!

Hello,
We've just moved house and the central heating is causing us a few problems:
It runs off a gas combi boiler (glow-worm) which has a control panel similar to this
to programme the system with along with a thermostat. The thing is the heating seems to come on during the off periods. Anyone know why it would do that?
Plus the hot water gets way too hot and even after trying to adjust it on the boiler it seems to make no differnce and defaults back to the previous set setting.
Thirdly upstairs the water pressure is pretty high and the bath water runs hot initially but then runs cold. I've worked out that by running the tap quite slowly it will stay hot. What do we need to do to improve on this? By the time I have enough water in the bath (which I love to have once in awhile rather than a shower) it's gone cold

Many thanks,
Ww

Hi
Are the tappets set in the wrong order?on for off etc. Could also be a wiring problem.
If the water flows through the boiler too quickly it won't heat up to a decent temp ,as you discovered, it may also be that it's not actually performing properly.
As you have just moved in it might be worth getting a Corgi in to service it and make sure it's safe. Don't take the word of the vendor that it has 'just been serviced'
While he/she is there you can ask questions as to how the system works.
