Outgoings Advice

I finally rang the court today and have an appointment booked to go bankrupt on the 15th April. I'm trying to fill in my outgoings but its difficult to say where my money goes as different emergencies seem to happen each month. My partner is a student so I pay for a lot of her things too. There are just two of us so how much is an acceptable amount to spend on food / housekeeping etc? Also we are both losing weight very fast and between us have lost nine stone so spend alot more than average on clothes because of this. Would it be a good idea to mention to this on the forms?
I also don't drive so we have to buy two bus passes each month which amounts to £140 per month. If I work on a sunday I have to get a taxi in which costs £14 and if I'm on late shifts I often get taxi's back as the place I have to wait for my bus is lonely and I don't feel safe. So i reckon I spend approximately and extra £50 on taxis home from work and another £3 every time I do a weekly shop as I can't manage it all on the bus So thats another £12. Does £202 a month on travel sound ridiculous?

Housekeeping allow £350/360. Travel looks very expensive you may have a fight on your hands to get this excepted. Start saving bus tickets, taxi reciepts. Clothes you can look at about £100.
Pop up you I&E and let us have look at it and we will let you know what you are missing.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
The bus company I use publish the rates for the monthly passes on their websit so I could take a print out of that. I've never asked for taxi receipts before but will start asking for them in future.
So far I've thought of
Rent: 475
Council tax 100
gas/ elec 109.50
water 30 (i think!)
tv license 30 ( again I need to check this)
clothing 100
housekeeping 350
phone bill 50 (including broadband)
haircuts 30
travel 202
books (for partners course) 20/30
total 1506.50
I know broadband isn't supposed to be essential but my partner needs it for her course...
Anything I've missed?0 -

Rent: 475
Council tax 100
gas/ elec 109.50 thats really high and might be questioned.
water 30 (i think!)
tv license 30 ( again I need to check this)this is usually £11.38 some pay more for part of the year though then go over to £11. Best to check it.
clothing 100
housekeeping 350
phone bill 50 (including broadband)is this including mobiles?
haircuts 30 probably nearer £20 would be allowed, but you can keep it and let the OR bring it down if he/she feels it should be lower.
travel 202 as mentioned, you'll almost certainly have to fight for this.
books (for partners course) 20/30 not sure, but the OR may say that this has to come out of the student loan. £360 per year for books is a lot!
total 1506.50
I know broadband isn't supposed to be essential but my partner needs it for her course... will be fine then.

Hi LC, what about dry cleaning, prescriptions, dental, optical? Do you have any pets? you should be able to include some for a holiday and some ORs allow for birthdays/xmas. Also maybe a little for emergencies/household repaires. Are you a member of any professional bodies?
Hope that helps a little.

I do have pets yeah so I hadn't thought about vet bills. There is always something happening with the animals like them chewing through their hutch and needing a new one or the dog needing to go to the vets but not sure what to put for that. Would that come under housekeeping or should it be listed seperately. Our haircuts cost £20 each so I put £30 as that would be a haircut each every six weeks. (We are both female so I think it costs more for womens haircuts) I haven't included my mobile I pay about £25 a month for this on a contract. My partner is on pay as you go.0

You need to put in pet insurance, however much that costs you. You can put pet food in with that to, some OR will expect it to come out of housekeeping some will not, so put it down and suck it and see.
Hairdresssing, females are only allocated £10 a month. I know it's archaic, my hair costs £70 a pop every 8 weeks  . As BLTN says leave it and if the OR leaves it then great, if he lowers it you haven't lost anything by trying.
Put your mobiles down with true costs.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

When you fill out the form you put your income down, then the outgoings, then in the section for any other people contribute you put your partners money.
When you done the rejigged I&E pop it back up for another look. Doing these are not an exact science. What one person is allowed someone else is not, a lot is suck it and see and keep your fingers crossed.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
