Smelly suitcases

DH bought some suitcases from Aldi - they are hard cases, not sure what the outside is made of. However, they smell - it is a kind of oily smell and we have tried Febreze and lavender oil on the lining but are having no success. Does anyone have an ideas of how we can make them more fragrant?

Maybe try leaving them open outside on a nice day. The fresh air might helpComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

Try dusting them with bicarbonate of soda. It's very good at absorbong smells. Then hoover it out after a couple of days.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. If you have Fabreze already then you could try a few squirts - or else water with a few drops of an essential oil in a spray bottle - lightly sprayed over."This site is addictive!"

I had the same problem with one I bought from Asda the other week. I sprayed it round with the spray bottle of vinegar / water / essential oil solution I use to clean the bathroom!! Sprayed it all over the inside and left it open on spare bed with windows open for a few days. There's still a faint smell but it's no where near as bad as it was.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0
