Oops....I've tipped coffee all over my white skirt

Help!!! Earlier this morning I tipped the best part of a full cup of cappuccino coffee all over my white skirt. I wouldn't normally bother buying a cappuccio from the coffee shop but the power was down at work and we couldn't even switch the kettle on. So I thought I'd treat myself to a posh coffee as I didn't spend all my 'fun' money at the weekend. Unfortunately I didn't take my incredible clumsiness into account........
Not only have I wasted money on a coffee that I didn't drink, I've probably ruined my skirt as well. I did try sponging off as much as possible with cold water but it's not done a lot of good. What's the best thing to do when I get home this evening? I've got half a bottle of Vanish pre-wash spray in the cupboard: should I just spray the skirt and then chuck it in the machine? Or would it be better to soak it in cold water first? Any other suggestions - apart from learning to be slightly less clumsy?!!!

I would try............reading the care label on the skirt and only do the following if the care label allows.
Fill a bowl or bucket with cold water and gently squeeze/agitate the skirt in the water. Examine the skirt and see if the stained area has improved/reduced.
If you can still see a stain, wash the skirt with Ariel Biological Automatic washing powder (in the machine) at the temperature advised on the care label. Don't add any fabric conditioner.
If you can't see a stain, wash the skirt with Persil Automatic washing powder (in the machine) at the temperature advised on the care label. Don't add any fabric conditioner.

And if after the machine wash you can still see a stain... don't let it get dry - put it in to soak in cold water and come back for more ideas.

My wife works in a coffee shop where they insist on white shirts as the uniform:rolleyes:. The vanish stuff works for us, although I might try a more moneysaving option when it runs out.0

Ok so what would you do if the garment had dried with the stain as i have a white jumper that has got a drip right down the front of it and i cant get the mark out

Tell us a bit more Turning_into_scrooge.
Do you know what the stain/drip is?
Have you washed (and tumble dried?) the garment a few times in your attempt to remove the stain?
What products have you used?
The best way to deal with stains is to deal with them as soon as possible. If the stain is allowed to dry and is then subjected to heat........it will set/fix the stain.
