Drinking glasses shine up

To shine up your best drinking glasses, heres a top tip: tak etwo pieces of bounty kitchen towel and fold them together, dip in a pot of black shoe poilish and rub the polish up and down the the glass until it has smudged in. Then soak a piece of the Bounty kitchen towel in a bowl of 4 parts water to 1 part vanish power spray, simply rub off the shoe polish and have the most sparkling glasswear in the county!

I just put mine in the dishwasher with vinegar in the rinse and they are great!

TBH - most shoe polishes contain toxic ingredients so I would rather forego sparkly glasses if I have to drink out of them :) I agree with elona - vinegar (combined with paper if you are hand washing). Hmmm - how many Old Stylers have Vanish Power Spray? :D

However, thanks for the tip anyway Fred. Nice to see you here. :)

Or just boil some water, let the steam fog up the glass then polish dry with a dry tea towel. That's the way I did it when I worked for a hotel

Just read the vinegar in dishwasher rinse tip... Does this mean substitute the regular rinse agent with vinegar, or a mix?

    Either :)

I knew my rinse aid was getting low so topped it up with vinegar. It's all working just fine.

Next time I top up it will be almost pure vinegar and I'm not anticipating any problems.

On the rare occasion I wash glasses by hand I get best results if I wash them before everything else in a sinkful of hot soapy water, then rinse them in hot water. The idea is to get the glasses warm to the touch - then dry them with a nice clean tea towel before they cool down. Lovely and shiny and smear free every time.

that's more or less what my good crystal wine glasses instructions say - wash one at a time in hand hot soapy water and rinse in hand hot clear water (I just manage the taps, but then I don't pay water rates in Scotland) then dry using a clean dry lint free tea towel (just a non-fluffy one washed a couple of times is fine).

The glasses practically dry themselves and are well shiny.

for my cheapo glasses I just wash in hot soady water and then rinse in cold water, that seems to stop them getting "filmy"
