nope not at all0

sorry according to some, it is possible to a degree, but requires hacking your xbox and using a linux distro
There is also a project underway here
which means it probably will be possible sooner rather than later0 -

I think you will find this is for the old XBOX and not the 360 like the OP is wanting to know about (elite console)0 -
yup for media playback the 360 is sorely lacking compared to a hacked xbox 1.
TBH i dont know why M$ didnt just use the features of XBMC for the 360.
okay it plays divx now but its still lacking loads0 -

Couldn't agree more.
If they'd have properly set the 360 up for media playback/streaming (any format), the 360 would be selling even more than it is already...
The nice thought is that they could, if they wanted to, deploy this in an update at some point...0 -
if you're considering buying a console then it may be worth investigating the PS3. I've heard that Sony are soon to release an add on device which allows recording from a TV signal.
Not sure when or how much it would cost

I am going to try to advocate that this thread be where questions about xboxes (and XBMC) be made. Tens of us are buying pre-owned xboxes and modding them at the moment and it might be a good idea if we move from the grabbit board.
I hope this ties in with the original thread and that the OP is ok with this.
Cheers
Buy an xbox pre-owned for £19.98 (and alot of talk about modding them).

Hi,
I bought an xbox, Splinter Cell, Action Replay and loaded on the new dashboard and then XBMC. Just need to buy a remote control (and maybe a 2nd xbox). I have it connected to my router and I bought a NAS (Buffalo 500GB) drive.
Love most of it. I can watch DVD's, listen to MP3's over my network and stream from youTube and AppleTrailers. I have my music shown with album art. Oh and I can watch tv recorded by MediaPortal on my xbox (if you change MediaPortal to record as MPEG's).
I am happy to try to help anyone on the mod (if I can remember how to do it).
I myself have questions I need help for.
- I can't get the box to see MP3's on a DVD-R I burnt. I know they are picky (they don't play CD-R at all if you have the wrong type of drive in it) I have tried ISO Type 2 (joilet didn't work-my normal format). Don't really want to waste another load of disks to find it just won't work.
- My xbmc display looks washed out (mostly greys). The font is white or yellow, it visualises in colour and album artwork is fine but I can't believe the skin is spost to look like this. I might try the 360 skin maybe.
- I'd like it to boot-up into xbmc (I have seen how to do this somewhere but when I came to find it again to do it....).

hmm... as much as i'm loving the irony of hijacking an xbox 360 recording thread as hijacking an xbox buying thread was seen as a bad thing... well... what the heck...
>> I can't get the box to see MP3's on a DVD-R I burnt.
maybe a dvd-r issue? as you said, they're picky with -R formats, have you got any -RWs to try? either dvd or cd....

this could be a cable issue; which cable are you using to connect? composite / scart / component? may just be a setting on either the xbox or tv...
>> I'd like it to boot-up into xbmc
um... yeah... possible... somewhere... probably just a case of altering a few settings in either the bios or some boot code in the OS. couple of google links:

Try this:

simply a matter of renaming the dashbord shortcut and providing new link to your xbmc.0
