  • Is Halifax still doing their "one clear rate card"? I can't see it advertised on their website anymore.

    Thanks in advance

I think you might be right, they seem to be pushing the "one" card. You could always call and ask.

A few questions if you don't mind Milarky...

So what does IFP actually stand for?

To be a true (or useful) IFP card, I assume it does not charge for doing a BT.

Are all these BTs to other CCs?

I guess you only need 2 IFPs to have a free game of ping pong - is this correct?

    Interest free period.

Nor charge interest straight away - hence it enjoys an IFP.

Yes, I am not aware of any card that has an IFP on SBTs, other than within a promotion period.

Yes, but they will need complementary statement/payment dates to make the most of it.

Cheers for that John/Lew... again :)

I guess if the payment dates are not complementary you just end up batting it across more frequently, but it won't affect your stooze pot.

Remember that you can often ask for a statement date to be changed to a more convenient day in the month. cahoot allows this but you can only request a change once every six months

    Jonhllew,
how do get cahoot to increase your limit over time? Do you find they raise it regularly or do you have to ask them?

I have current, credit card, flexible loan and savings a/cs with them. It's not my main current account and I've only used the flexible loan to get the BT rebates, but there is a lot of movement through the CA (CC DDs), CC (BTs), and savings a/c. Perhaps this is why they have increased my limits; I certainly haven't requested any increase though I have taken the opportunity to rearrange my credit limits between the CA, FL & CC (building up the latter).

Yes, movement through a card using up a large proportion of the credit limit seems to trigger a review, although you can always ask for one.

A have a Nationwide card which I used regularly but for small amounts. Then a fraudster used it to run up over £2000 of debt. I spotted it and reported it 4 days after the transaction occured, but was then amused to get a letter at the end of the month to say that since I was using my account more they were increasing the credit limit!
