DMP and Northern Rock Demands

Hi Jo,
I also have NR as creditors and they have accepted for 6 months, due for review in Feb '08. No looking forward to them to be honest, but trying not to think too much about it, hopefully by then will be able to up payment as this is also the time of yearly pay rise.
So in agreement with you, on how frustrating this whole thing is. We are trying to pay back our debts and will be paying back every penny, so why can't they see/understand this and cut us some slack!!
It would be intersting to hear from anyone who has been in DMP for a number of years and have the problem creditors (NR, MBNA, HSBC etc.) to let us know how they finally get them to accept payment(s).Long Hauler No: 51

NR are my biggest creditor and like others here the 6 months are up and they want me to start paying the agreed amount.
This caused me stress, Payplan were refaxing my plan to them, more letters came. I'm a better position now so have just upped my payment by £100 more a month, looking at how Payplan have adjusted the amount to each creditor it means I am now paying more a month to NR than the original agreement, helps pay the arrears I guess.
I telephoned them yesterday and I can now go back to the original agreement. I did say I was going to continue to pay the amount through payplan and they appeared happy with this.
I was really concerned about NR as I have heard stories about them taking people to court and getting charging orders against your property, something I was really worried about.
Not to cause you further stress but be cautious that this could happen, so be prepared in case a letter comes through your door.
Hope it all works out. Good luck0 -
Sorry I'm being a bit thick now ..... so you upped your payment to Payplan by £100 per month but have not gone back to the orginal agreement?
I dont get that ..... can you explain again for me (am blonde)! lol
Thanks

:rotfl: Northern Rock are a bunch of desperado's, they are trying it on in every area as they need to tighten things up in readiness for the company being flogged off. For those of us who work in debt advice, NR are a complete pain in the &%$£. They can only get out of you what you have to offer. They are only entitled to their pro rata fair share, either through you DMP or in court. Stand firm with them. They are in a blind panic. Unfortunately I have a mortgage with them and I'm about to pay it off. I also have an unsecured loan with them which they attempted to get me to sign to make it secured. I should jolly well co-co. I told them where to shove it. Stand firm, don't be bullied. Not long till this bunch of vipers will be on here asking how to pay their staff loans off out of the Job Seekers Allowance. Can't wait for them to find out how crappy life can be when times change.0

I'm really quite worried now as one of the attractions - if you can call it that - for going down the dmp route rather than the iva was that I could pay back my debt AND not worry about losing my home.
Am I right in assuming a charging order is something to do with them owning a percentage of my property or something? So that when/if I sell, they get a cut?
I wish they would at least acknowledge that I've paid every payment, always on time (they have now backed down and told Payplan that I should ignore the letter they sent about me not paying on time - as they were in the wrong - nice of them to tell me too!) and that I'm trying to pay the rest off, but I just can't come up with any more money, towards the end of the year, had they made these demands in January, I may have been able to do something!
Makes you wonder why you bother trying to do the right thing by paying back everything!
Thanks for your replies so far tho, any other input would be greatly appreciated!

Jo,
sorry to hear you are being 'bullied' I hate bullies.. when I spoke to CCSS the other day they said NR are really bad news, so they must have experience of them.. incidently my mortgage and unsecured loan is with Northern rock also....
re the phone... can you block their number/say they are harrassing you or change number/screen calls anything to get rid of them calling you, no-one has a right to impose themself on you in your own home.. I'm angry as you can see how dare they tell you they will keep calling....grrrrr...0 -

Well at the mo I will continue to pay payplan my standing order and they will send the amount to NR. I am back on the original agreement If down the line things change then I will opt out of the DMP with Payplan and administer the rest of my debts. My circumstances have changed, hopefully I will be in a position to pay the other creditors off sooner rather than later.0
