New Amex Platinum Credit 5% cashback

Looks like the American Express Platinum (credit) card has a new introductory offer, quite possibly in place to compete with CapitalOne's offering.

Basically, the first three months will give you 5% cashback on all spend up to £4,000 of spending, so that's £200 cashback. After the three months are up it seems to be the usual tired cashback levels.

I saw this advertised this morning in today's London Metro free newspaper. I've also just checked online and it seems it is now a standard offer on the Amex website - see link above.

So it looks like we have a new top cashback card.

Don't forget to go through Quidco for an additional £40.

I already have one of these cards, so the wife has just applied.:D

Thanks to the OP for spotting this.

I already have an Amex Blue. Doe anyone know if they'll let you have the offer if you're already known to them?

Yep, it's usually OK to have more than one card with Amex. In the past I've had as many as 3 cards with them concurrently - sometimes even a mixture of charge and credit cards as well.

And yes, I agree with mrmajika that getting a Platinum credit card via Quidco will earn you £40. Wish I'd signed-up to it sooner!!

    Hello people!

I've just applied online. I'm wondering what credit limits people are getting for this platinum variant? Thank you.
    I know nothing
  • If it's the Platinum credit card you sign up for through Quidco, you'll get £10 cashback. It's the Platinum CHARGE card that attracts the higher payment (it incidentally has an annual fee of hundreds of pounds) and also the Small Business Platinum Credit Card too, rather than the standard 5% cashback card.
