::Travel Insurance Emergency::

Hello,
Made a thread about this earlier, but didnt get much feedback -& now it is becoming a serious issue.
My sistuation is that i am currently in the US, the first part of a year long trip wihich ill also take in NZ, Oz. Stupidly, god knows why, i did not purchase travel insurance before i left..I guess i assumed it would be the same price to purchase whilst abroad and i did not have the time to look into it back home.
Unfourtunately it is not the same and a few agencies such as endsleigh, nomads travel etc that do offer insurance whilst you have started your trip arequoting me 480pounds+ for a years basic insurance....more than double what i would have paid if i bought this before i left. Infact, its so much more that i could probably get a 300pound return flight back to london for a night from here, insure myself their, and it would probably cost the same(cheapest i could have got if purchased in the UK was 180 with ACE)
I am appealing for any help with finding cheaper insurers for my case. Their must be some??
Thanks

If it is a "tavel insurance emergency" and a "serious issue" then pay the £480 and learn from the experience when going on future travels... If you have done a proper search and looked at the suggestions folk on this site gave you last time you posted this then it may be the only way forward... not what you want to hear I suspect but hey...0

If you already have a medical need (hence the 'emergency'?), you will not be covered by any insurance that you take out now. Otherwise, have to agree with mcr, you need to pay the price quoted.Gone ... or have I?0

Your right....its not what i want to hear :-(
Im hoping to hear something different but i doubt its going to happen.
Its an Emergency and if i dont find cheaper soon im just going to need to pay it then i guess.
Im a fool.
-thanks anyway0 -
Sorry pazza, but if you already need medical attention you will not be covered anyway. If you are unwell, please get some help xGone ... or have I?0

Make sure you're better prepared and organised next time you travel.
Maybe try the British Insurance Broker's Association site: scrolll down to the Travel bit and there's a section for insurance after travellig.

I think the implication is, that you are a bit of an idiot. Not in an offensive sense, but sheer stupidity not to have organised your insurance in advance of your travel.
I would not suggest that purchase your insurance via the internet, which may cover you for Emergency Medical Assistance, but if you try to make any other claim, you'll probably be asked for your flight details.0 -
i would imagine any insurance company would look at the claim in fine detail as it would smell really bad to them .
insurance isn't the same as payment, which it appears the OP is after for some form of medical treatment in the US of all places.
might be worth asking on some US forums the best course of action to get treatment by 'whatever' method.0 -
If you are in the U.S and you need urgent medical assistance, and you don't have medical insurance, I would quite simply jump on the first plane home if you can.
Many people have bankrupted themselves and their families by falling ill in the US - it's one country you should NEVER travel without insurance.
If you're not ill, and just need insurance, either pay the cost, or fly home straight away to minimise your risk.0 -
Hi,
I dont need emergency medical attention...i am fine right now, however i am fearfull that i may require it in the future upon realising how foolish i have been in not getting it. I think i may be heading home for a week, and i will buy it their. I need to visit the dentist, think i need a filling, need TI, & need to take care of one of two other things back home so if i can find a cheap enough rtn flight from here to the UK then ill head home in about 2weeks.
Thanks0 -
Maybe a courier flight is possible.
