Here's a quick tip to make your Brillo Pads go further. How often have you used one to just spruce up a couple of pans, yet when you need to use it again a couple of days later it is just rust? Simple. Cut them in half. Half of one is still enough to clean up a couple of pans, and you can just bin it when you are finished. Couple of days later, use the other half.

top idea. never thought of that.
thanks0 -
Ever more savings if you buy the stainless steel pads and add a drop of washing up liquid - they last forever and do not rust.
A very good way to make your own scrubbing pad is to save all the nets that come with packs of oranges, lemons and mandarins, and when you have 3 or 4 you can scrunch them together and stitch them - voila, homemade scrubbing pad!

no, but thanks for posting it here, ;D0 -
I found her name and the details of the book on Amazon.co.uk:
Amy Dacyczyn
The Complete Tightwad Gazette: Promoting Thrift as a Viable Alternative Lifestyle

Thise book is not always relevant to the UK as it is written from an American perspective but it has a lot of nice tips and it is very entertaining too!

I am glad that the tip was useful to you, 160! Hopefully to others too.
The only thing to keep in mind is that fruit in the nets is sold in supermarkets, which are more expensive than the market, so only buy netted fruit when it's reduced, to use the nets as brillo pads!
Ciao
