Something a bit different from the usual Wii's and holidays! 
This is Monday's competition from The Independent newspaper, similar in form to Tuesday's but very different in prize! I can't find a link online to it unfortunately. Online entry is by e-mail:

The Independent, in association with Genes Reuinted, is offering one reader and five runners-up the chance to have their family history researched by top genealogist Anthony Adolph.
The first prize consists of research worth £1,000 and will give the winner an-depth knowledge of their ancestors to help discover who they are and where they come from. Five runners-up will each receive starter research worth £300, which will begin to explain the roots of their ancestry. Each winner will also receive a copy of Anthony's book, "Tracing Your Family History (Collins, 2005)".
For your chance to win simply answer the following question: What year did General Registration of births, marriages and deaths begin in England and Wales?
A) 1837 :T

C) 1857
To enter, text 'INDY1' followed by a space and then your answer (A, B or C) and name to 84010. Alternatively, email your answer and details to comps@independent.co.uk. Entries must be received by noon on Friday 5 October 2007. Winners will be picked at random from the correct entries and will be notified by telephone by 5pm on Monday 8 October.

- Research will be undertaken for ancestry in the British Isles only.
- Results of ancestry cannot be guaranteed and the number of generations/ancestors traced will vary for each family.
- Research will take several months to be completed.
- It is not possible to provide interim reports between the start and end of the research.
- All results will be presented as a written report, with copies of any documents obtained in the course of the research and a family tree.
- Only one competition entry per email address
- Texts cost 50p plus your standard message rate.
