sewing coat hanger in back of collar

any tips on best way to make a coat hanger for jackets?
1. just fold over a scarap of fabric and sew it up and zig zag on under the collar?
2. or how do you attach nylon card ?
quite a few of the jackets don't have a hangy thing (design fault !), so they end up in a heap on the floor.
I need to make hangers for a denim jacket (heavy), light fabric jacket, and medium weight fleece.
Any tips much appreciated

Can you copy from something of about the same weight that DOES have a hanger loop? All mine seem to be the same - stitched into the seam during manufacture.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. thanks squeaky!
couldn't think what was the right term to use and you've come up with it: 'hanger loop'. so now been able to search more effectively and it seems that twill tape is the stuff I need.
cheers

You can buy purpose-made chains, with a sealed ring at each end, from a haberdashers or suchlike, and just sew them on.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

please to report that I've made my on twill tape by trimming the hems off ikea's cheapest teatowels, overlocking the raw edge.
