Help with Sage needed please

I run Sage instant accounts V10. I've raised an invoice which has been paid by the customer. Subsequently I had to raise a partial credit not and write a refund cheque out. How do I post the cheque so it contra's the credit note on the customers account? As usual, Sage help isn't that helpful!

Step
1. Post the refund to a clearing account - Suspense a/c, misposting a/c
2.Create a dummy(no VAT) invoice and post it to the clearing account and match this dummy invoice to the credit note raised.

At the end of it all your customer balance should be £nil and the clearing account balance should also be £nil

Tried that and it's worked - can now get on with balancing the last 2 month's entries. Don't know what I'd have done without your help. :-)
