There's a tip on cleaning silver in our "Save Zillions on cleaning Index". You can find it by using the "Collections" sticky at the top of the board or by following the clue in my signature belowHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Place silver foil in a basin or pan, add hot water then add a tsp of salt and a tsp of bicarb, soak item and buff. Some say boil the water while soaking items. You can use bicarb on a cloth to get rid of stubborn stains. Alternatively, rub item with toothpaste, into a foam and rinse and dry. If there are crevices, use an old toothbrush on it too.0

boiling/ hot water mixed with Ariel powder and gently scrab with an old tooth brush. Make sure the tooth brush has soft ends, other wise it may scratch. good luck0

As long as it's not epns plated silver you can use toothpaste on it with very good results. Just be sure to take all the toothpaste off with a damp cloth and buff well afterwards. This will give a good shine.
