  • THe answer is that if it is £26 then no, but if it is £28 then yes. Can you tell me when and what the narrative on the statement says. I will then confirm it difinitively.

I think it is £28 pound a month, and i dont know about his statments ill have to ask him for them, he has an overdraft of £100 i think, but only uses that hardly ever really, he get's £200 in his bank every week on friday's, plus he get's £80 on thursday's. I dont know whats up with this but everytime i talk to him he and ask him to lend me the odd £10 or something he says he cannot afford it because he has bank charges to pay, and no matter what everymonth he gets a bank charge of £28 its been happening for 2 year's. But i will talk to him about the statment's. Hope this is some help, Thank you
  • danfx, if he does not use his overdraft then he cannot get charged £28. Furthermore, the first £100 on an authorised overdraft is free of interest. I have a feeling he may not be telling the whole truth to be honest but i am sure you can understand why. Tell him you can get him some money OFF the bank and that it will be in his pocket. For 2 years that must be over £600. I am sure he will want you to help him after you tell him. That will also help him look after his son or go on holiday with him.
Ask him to look at this post if he does not believe it. Total time likely to be 10 weeks(first letter to natwest offering full charges back) and he can go back 6 years to do it. Good deal to me, eh?

Yes sounds good, okay he does use his overdraft i have just found out but they still shudnt be charging him £28 as he pays it back weekly because of the money he earn's etc.... hope this helps and how could we get this started?
  • dan, he has gone over the agreed overdraft, which is why they have charged him. If he has an agreed overdraft why does he go over? To be honest the answer is irrelevant, he needs his statements and needs to see how much he is owed.

He only goes over when he needs to but the money goes back in the bank so i dont see a problem?
  • dan, it is called an agreed overdraft so if he goes over that overdraft, it is unagreed(or unofficial request for an overdraft---total nonsense). That means he gets charged 28 quid even if it was 1p over the limit. These charges are unlawful. He needs to get his statements and check how many times he has had charges and claim them all back.

Oh right i get ya, so he will be able to get his bank charge money back?!
  • Dan, 100% correct and however long your brother held the account up to 6 years ago. So how much do you think he could get back? Remember those £28's he can as well as any unpaid cheques, standing orders, or direct debits and they are at £38 a pop.
