Something fishy!

Doee anyone know how to get rid of the smell of fish?
Last night cooked fish kebabs (lovely by the way) but today when we came back into the house it's stinking of fish!
Is there anything i can do or buy to get rid of it as i have friends coming over the weekend.
I would be grateful for any ideas.
Thanks

Yes, stick a pan of water on to boil with a lemon cut into quarters in it.

Or the same with cinammon sticks instead of lemon.

And there's an odour removing tip or two in our "Zillions" sticky at the top of the board that might be of help.

Was going to suggest... bake a nice chocolate cake. It generally takes over and your visitors may enjoy it too! :D

Open all your windows tomorrow and light some fragranced candles (if you have any) make sure that everything involved in cooking the fish has been washed up and do the boiled lemon thing :)

I actually do something similar when there are no fishy smells ... simply as an air freshner! LOL I've even resorted to a spoonful of Garma Masala (well out of date in the spice rack - had to use it *somehow*!

  • Hi I hope someone here can help me. My husband has been told that he has to eat more fish due to the fact that his cholesterol is high. So last week I cooked smoked mackrel. However the smell is still there every day when I come home from work. For a whole week now.

I have opened all the windows, cleaned, bleached the surfaces etc. Not sure what else I can do.

    Any ideas..

We have an older thread on fish smells that should be of some help to you and so I've added your post to it.

Posts are listed in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning to catch up :)

    Good luck.

Add lemon to the fish when cooking, this will help reduce the smell and smoke, will taste good too!!!!
