This is an 'information' post because I know it's an issue some of you have faced, and more and more of us will.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has just published Drugs in the family: the impact on parents and siblings in the latest of its 'Findings' series. You can download this summary, or the full report. A summary would be that the commonest reaction to discovering that someone within the family is using drugs is to attempt to 'contain' the problem and not ask for advice or support, but that it is better to seek help and support for the whole family at an early stage to reduce the huge impact this has on younger siblings in particular.
One place to access such support is through Families Anonymous.
Love and hugs to anyone caught up in problematic drug use in their family.
