How much have/will you spend today Sunday 11/2 & the new Sun to Fri challenge :)

Good afternoon lovely DFWs :)

I am continuing the lazy weekend by logging on from our bed, with coffee and toast by my side :D Bliss!

Now, I looked for last week's challenge and I couldn't find it  I'm sorry I didn't set it up for a couple of weeks but as you may have read, I've had some personal issues to deal with. I am back now though and it's time to put some rears on the naughty step :rotfl:

So let's have some updates from last week and new budgets from today. I was within budget for last week and will pledge £25 for this week. Payday at the end of it and can't wait to pay off some more of my debt! :j Non spender today as I am not leaving the house (or bed if I can help it :D)

Now for anyone looking in, please feel free to join - the more the merrier! Basically, decide on the amount you want to spend up to from Sunday until the end of the working day on Friday then pledge it here and off we go! The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anythng else.

The reason the challenge is up to Friday is that I like to give myself a day off the counting and let my hair down a bit

Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!!

Moozie x

PS Rog2.....hope you are OK x

How do you guys do it??? I've just started this and have been trying to follow the fly lady 31 day challenge (although i'm a bloke) and a realistic budget for me, oh and two kids is more like £250. Where am I going wrong. Food is a whacking amount of that but once we add petrol etc it fair mounts up. Think we can do better with food shopping though.

BTW, NSD Friday and £26 spend on swimming and some messages at Tesco so not bad.

    Thanks

    Hi Chase and welcome

Have you started a spending diary yet? I really recommend it. You and your OH should record everything you spend for a month and then you can see where you money is really going.

For the Sun-Fri challenge, we don't include food shopping/petrol etc that should be budgeted elsewhere. The challenge is about 'spending money' in the main.

Your food budget should be easy to cut with planning and shopping in cheaper places like ALDI/LIDL. The OS board is full of menus that can help you. As for petrol, canyou use the car any less?

It can be done, just break down the areas of your spending and tackle them one by one.

    Good luck!

Heya, I do include food etc in my budget as I'm a student and living on an incredibly small income as it is and so I find it easier to do it all together. Use the old style board to get recipes, batch cook andget the kids involved (if they are old enough) even if they are still small can they help you out with mixing etc? It not only means that they are more likely to eat your homecooked food but that they learn cooking skills earlier! Petrol wise, make sure you are filling up at Tesco/Sainsburys etc and using their reward schemes. Use clubcard points etc for meals out/holidays or just instore for money off food. Good luck!

    Nowt nowt nowt today!

I'm going to have to bottle out of next weeks challenge - I genuinely dont know where or when I'll be working (and by where I mean what country) so its just not realistic - onc i get a handle on the situation I'll be back. Rest assured I wont be spending any more than is necessary!
