Hello everyone, I have at last managed to transfer some of my music to my mp3 :T Only one problem, it is so slow  My computer says
I need a hi-speed usb port
I was in the process of getting one of those 4 in 1 type usb's but now I am not sure what kind to buy, do they come with different speed abilities?
Can anyone please advise me?
Many thanks

you want this sort of thing, assuming you have a spare pci slot in the pc

a usb2 hub will still only use your existing usb1 ports, tis will give you usb 2 ports
if you are using Xp then it should just plug in and work
this will give you more ports

Sorry, what is a pci slot?
My pc is about 4/5 yrs old and I use XP0 -
you need to open the pc, there are normally some slots at the back of the pc case blocked up with metal strips
on the motherboard when you open the pc they look like
the back will look like this
very easy to do on xp, just remove the metal blanking strip
plug in the card and put the screw in the top to hold it in
replace the cover
XP will "detect new hardware" and install if it has the drivers or ask for the CD that comes with the PCI cardEx forum ambassador

Does it matter what the spec of the PC is? What if you wanted to replace USB 1.0 ports with USB 2.0 onesIf no-one expected shirts to be ironed then we'd all have time for more important things:T0

no, unless the tech specs for the card you buy have a minimum ram requirement that exceeds the Pc'sEx forum ambassador

Looking at the links above the prices of the PCI cards is under £3, this seems really cheap when I compare it to others than I have seen at around £25 not that I am complaining I just wondered if there is something special about itIf no-one expected shirts to be ironed then we'd all have time for more important things:T0

there is very little in usb pci cards, just some connectors on the pcb and a really dumb chip manufactured on an antiquated production line which would be getting scraped otherwise.
that coupled with the fact that most motherboard in the last 3 years already have usb 2 and they cant really charge that much for it.
there is always someone willing to pay over the odds for a part they think is superior but usb2 is a standard spec so just get the cheapest, it will probably be oem and the box may not be as nice but who cares.0
