Best way to combat junk mail. Hotmail?

I started getting a lot of spam, nothing really offensive - just annoying.
I opened a free e-mail account on line, changed my own e-mail address very slightly (from fred@****.com to freds@****.com), Sent an e-mail to all those I trusted telling them of the change. Then set up a divert so that every thing to fred@****.com went straight to the new account. I check that account occasionally to see if there is anyone I have missed. The new account deletes everything after a month.
Hope you followed that !0 -
I've used rules in the past and it's not a particularly good solution.
I've never clicked on an unsubscribe.
I have joined loads of gambling web sites over the last year whilst bookie and casino bonus bagging. I reckon my details have been leaked from one of them.
I spent a few hours on my new plan last night. Each website has been allocated a different contact email. Each email address then forwards to one of several header accounts . If I start to receive junk on one address I can then trace the source of the leak and update one email address and it'll all be sorted.Happy chappy0 -
yahoo's pretty good at filtering spam. However you do have to check junk as some real mail ends up in there occasionally.0
