Just heard a spokesman say that the EU airlines are obliged to re-schedule your flight, provide you with accommodtion and refreshment, (did not say 'meals') on Working Lunch they are saying they have a duty of care to look after you, but it can be a blanket at an airport, depends on the airline and refreshments , no gaurantees it will be the hotel you have been staying in....BA have announced they will waive carpark charges for people delayed abroad...
Sorry, have you not been reading this forum for the past few days?
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Confirmed on the Guardian website
British Airways will resume some flights into and out of London's airports from 7pm on Tuesday April 20. They aim to operate long-haul departures that were scheduled to depart after 4pm and shorthaul departures scheduled to depart after 7pm, subject to the full and permanent opening of airspace.

That won't be happening now, Skynews & BBCnews are both stating London airports will remain closed tomorrow. Scotland and some Midlands airports will open but most likely only for a few hours as the new ash cloud moves in

Even worse now. We had been booked on the next available flight on 27th April.

Then we phoned up, as we do each day, to be offered a flight today (an extra repatriation flight to Birmingham, mainly laid on I think for Cosmos package people). We need to get to Gatwick but accepted it of course.

It was cancelled when we got our family to the Airport. No Crew at Brum to fly the plane. No re-schedule known, told to contact Monarch for new flight but 1st available now 29th April. We have booked it and will ring each day for anything sooner that becomes available (due to cancellations). So in accepting this cancelled repat flight we lost our 27th April flight.

People have got home on a Manchester flight today but they have only been stranded a day. We have been stranded since 15th April. There is NO attempt to deal first with those stranded longest, as far as flight-only customers are concerned.

    How can they do this?

There never is. The logistics of transferring bookings from those with seats to those waiting and dealing with the fall out (including a legal right to compensation as well as care) from those with booked seats watching "their" plane depart would be a nightmare.

Are there no flights to mainland Spain? With the airspace now open, it may be possible to get a connecting flight home.

My BIL is stuck (working) in the US but has a contact to arranges all flights for a very large company. They have both checked and no, there are no flights for less than 700GBP each. We have 4 children, can´t afford this at all. BIL has leant us money to pay our hotel bill here so far.

At the Airport today, you can´t buy a flight from another Airline.

Just heard from someone else who was booked on the same flight that got cancelled. They saw people blag their way onto a Manchester flight by flashing the right flight number just written down on a piece of paper (which is all you get over the phone from Monarch). We may be reduced to doing this tomorrow.
