Of course it is not twaddle, Kim. I don;t like paying by DD so I don't. For me, the unit rate I pay is very competitive and I do not pay any standing-charge.

Do you know what "standing charge" means Kim. Instead of insulting everyone, think for a minute next time, yeah?

Semantic strawman twaddle with an added self-contradicting insult. You're just being stupid, wouldn't upgrade it to idiocy.

KJ and Andy are conflating two different issues. The cost of prepayment meter tariffs versus the cost of other meter types' tariffs is completely separate from the issue of standing charges (whether two-tier or daily).

The OP would face a weekly charge of £1.50 (or whatever) even on the cheapest direct debit online tariff with a credit meter - having a prepayment meter is of little consequence (although, having said that, it is possible that some suppliers may supply prepayment meters with only daily standing charge tariffs. Then again, more and more of the cheaper credit meter tariffs are now daily standing charge only (e.g. Ovo, nPower SOL18)).

This is rubbish, pure and simple. Standing charge is a charge you pay per day/week/quarter regardless of how much electric/gas you use. Unit prices charges are what you pay for every unit of electric/gas you use.
Some tariffs do not bill a standing-charge!
    Are you being deliberately stupid?

Kim is a him...and not a well person. Other posters should forgive his trespasses until he is back on an even keel.
Do you want to talk about your illness, Kim. Maybe we can help.
A bit like the meetings I used to attend. Get it out in the open.
