Just bought Dualit mini oven that heats up in 5 mins and is supposed to use a lot less electricity we often do, say, some sausage rolls or fish fingers for the kids so putting the large main oven must have been quite a waste of elecy? anyone use one that has wise words or tips please ,Thanks

Could you please put that more clearly because i can't understand your query thanks0

I think the OP is asking whether a mini oven will use less electricity to cook something than putting the larger normal oven on?0

Smaller space to be heated up = less energy to do it?
Notwithstanding heat loss/insulation/leaving the oven door open etc.43580 -

Why did you quote my post? I was defending you against MarkHarding's idiotic remark!!! (Yes, yes, I know, 'glasshouses').0 -
Um, back to the OP question:
it looks like the Dualit mini oven is about 1,500 watts
I looked up a Neff oven and that came up at 4.9kw
So thumbs up for the Dualit mini oven on saving watts and therefore money. I think!

Well, the wattage is secondary to the volume of the oven. As already suggested, a more critical design criterion is the standard of insulation. For the original tasks mentioned by DogPark the toaster oven is ideal and much cheaper. It is only when it comes to larger tasks or longer tasks or bigger batches that a solidly built well insulated standard oven could be of benefit - of course, some toaster ovens may have excellent insulation as well.
As to how long it will take to recoup the higher price of a Dualit compared with the prices of cheaper brands...0
