Scam - unauthorised payments to VvPayitexpress.Co, Mnp-Rapidcoll,Webfilesupport.com

I noticed I had regular payments taken out of my bank account from a company I don't recognise today.

First payment was 95p from Mm-Billitsecure.Co on Sept 16th. Then a payment of £20.95. Followed by monthly payments of £20.95. the company name keeps changing. They are: VvPayitexpress.Co, Mnp-Rapidcollect.C, and the latest one was Webfilesupport.com and took $32.37 in USD. The bank charged me £1.50 for this, plus this made me go overdrawn incurring a £1 a day fee. Luckily, the bank has waived this. I only noticed as I have switched all my direct debits to another bank account and hardly use this one anymore so I queried it.

I traced the payments to http://www.thesupportbank.com/ It seems to originate from this company. I have raised a ticket. I believe a fraudster has set up an account with my bank details.

I did a google search and it appears that this has happened to many other people! I can't find a thread on here though? Is there one?

I have stopped my bank account so they can't take anymore. Am gutted though as I am trying to be careful with money as I am living on my savings! I was also conned by zavvidirect a couple of years ago and am still trying to get my money back from that. I also put in a debit card point of sale form today.:mad::mad:

So has anyone else been conned like this?

Why is it a scam? What have you done? It's only a scam if you fell for something.

It may well be unauthorised and that's for your bank to sort assuming it is unauthorised.

Well, it doesn't really matter if it is a scam or not. It has not happened to just me. My post was to make others aware and also because i found no other posts on here.

scam (skabreve.gifm) Slang n. A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle.

tr.v. scammed, scam·ming, scams To defraud; swindle.

Someone swindled money out of my account.... that's enough for me to call it a scam.

I just got this email back from localbilling. Don't put the url in as its a !!!!!! site! On the date the membership was created I was on holiday in a remote cottage in France. No internet access. The only item I bought on my card was a burger king in the airport. I wonder if my card was cloned.

    Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for contacting our customer service at LocalBilling.

With your credit card was purchased a membership for one of our clients for whom we provide billing services. To protect your privacy this URL does not appear on your bank statement, instead we specify a more general description".

We were able to locate the following user account:

Site URL: crazychickswebsitegross - link changed to protect the innocent!
    Membership created on: 2009-09-13 19:44:58
    Username: mixeron

    Name: <my name>

We will terminate the account in question and consider your claim.

Our employees will hand over all related log files and IP addresses to the local police department and district attorney. The governmental cybercrime agency will use this data to investigate and establish the physical location and computer from which the account was created.

This person has to expect legal charges of identity theft and credit card fraud.

Because of these severe legal consequences, we want to ensure that the aforementioned membership does not belong to you or any relatives or friends of you. Should it become clear that the address is of you or somebody you know, it can be seen as false testimony, which in itself is a punishable crime.

IMPORTANT: Please confirm if you can recognize the above mentioned membership, so we can stop the transmission to the authorities!

The account was cancelled and blacklisted to prevent further use.
