I have just a couple of questions.
When you fill out credit applications most only ask for your address for the last 3 years, does this mean that they only check the last 3 years worth of credit history ?
If this is the case, my wife and i have a joint CCJ on our credit reports which will be 3 years old as of may 2010, if the above question is correct would a lender still see that CCJ ? if its over 3 years old ? or not ? what about defaults would they be seen ? if over 3 years old ?
If they are still seen why do lenders generally only ask for address details for the last 3 years ?
Wayne.

They see what's on your credit report which records details of accounts for at least 6 years (6 years from settled date or defaulted date).
Last 3 years may be more relevant and the reason why they only ask for address for 3 years, but they can see what's there for 6 years."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Some lenders only consider the last three years of history as long as that three years has been flawless.
Those that only want three years of address history would still be able to see data up to six years old, but new data is taken into consideration more weightily than old data.
What other adverse data do you have on your credit file?
If the CCJ is the only adverse data and if in June you'll have had 36 months of flawless history across all credit accounts you may be considered for prime credit, but it depends on the rest of your credit history and information provided on your application form
Sygma Cards seem to be the "stepping stone" from Sub Prime to Prime so you might want to try them first of all, but wait until June before applying

i will be pretty much shafted until 2013 for main stream credit unless i can get the defaults from phoenix recoveries removed which is what iam currently trying to do.
the wife apart from this CCJ and a virgin media default which we are trying to get equifax to remove as the account was settled in full and we owe them nothing so no reason for a default in the first place, if that is removed the CCJ will be three years old in may or June i cant remember now she will have a flawless history for the last 18 months she had no credit before that bar our bank account which has all greens.
On her report now is:
vanquis - all greens 7 months
aqua - all greens 6 months
fashion world mail order - all greens 8 months
Vodafonefull contract including phone - all green 2 months
barclays bank account - all green 5 years +
I know iam pretty much fooked unless phoenix agree to remove these defaults but what about the wife ?:j:beer: :j0
