Dispatches, 8th Feb: Post Office Undercover

it was pretty much what i expected
based in London (the most militant part of RM)
offices that are using agency staff ,so already have problems
looking at the building it looked pretty run down as so many delivery offices are

note as well this is an office where RM dropped the 4 day week for a 5 day week
of course if the duties stay the same with 8 hours to complete rather than the 10 from before.you get problems
HCT's (high capacity trolleys) being used for flats/stair deliveries
these are not meant to be used on this type of delivery as you saw on the programme by the postie leaving the HCT to do a stair

the postie asking where his keys were after an agency worker had trhem the day before,been there and i have posted about this problem before on MSE

i heard the managerial gem "you will be fine"
thats code for just go out of the office then i can tick off the duty is done

how much modernisation did you see? HCT trolleys falling ot bits
nowhere to sort packages properly
RM talks modernisation but you dont see it
modernisation means cuts

the queue out the door on a Saturday,probably seen at nearly every delivery office in the UK
we get more and more packages every year but get out later and later so deliver less and less
