Travelodge for 02 in Autumn - When is sale

Hiya

I know it's a long time away but thought I would get an idea now. We have been bought tickets for Peter Kay at the 02 in November for part of our Christmas present. We are going to be staying over but don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel as you are hardly in it at all, must be clean though with private bathroom! I have stayed at the travelodge at Covent Gardens before now and got it in a room sale, does anyone know when the Autumn room sale starts?

The other problem I have is that I am claustrophobic and really struggle on the underground. The thought of doing the underground with thousands of other people straight after the concert is a major no no. We are very happy to walk to a hotel even if it is 30/40 mins away so hotels in that sort of area would be great.

The other possibility is eating somewhere close by straight after, preferably able to book, and then wait for the crowds to go. That way I should be able to cope with the underground.

Sorry it's a long one and thanks for any help you can give.

  • Hi, my mum and dad went to the Bon Jovi concert at the o2 and stayed in a travellodge nearby, can't remember which one but they said it was too far to walk to the O2 because you had to go through the blackwall tunnel, they went on the tube and they ended up getting lost, so they got a taxi back after the concert and ended up paying £30

I'm not sure when the room sale starts and I'm sorry if my answer isn't any help to you
Just me, in my own little world

  • We stayed at the eTap London Docklands when I was at an event at the ExCeL not that long ago.

Bare in mind that even in a sale, the fact that a major event at the O2 is taking place might "exclude" particular hotels from the sale.

We stayed at the Southwark TL in December after seeing Miley Cyrus, as it is only a few stops on the underground from the O2 on the same line. It is a fairly new hotel, a couple of minutes walk from the tube station. My youngest daughter struggles to cope when on crowded tube trains, so we left a few minutes before the end of the concert (just before the encore) and had no problems.

I'm guessing you've not been to the O2 before - there are loads of bars and restaurants within it. I generally have a beer in a bar after a concert, give it 30-40 minutes and the queue for the tube has gone and you're fine.

Alternative, which I haven't done, but I assume works fine if you book in advance is to go via on the Thames Clippers which go back into central London after concerts.

Could you cope with a boat ?

The Tower Bridge Travelodge is just round the corner from the Tower Pier , and you could get a Thames clipper from there directly to the O2 and back....

It's also next to the Tower Gateway DLR station if it's the "underground" bit that bothers you....
