ICICI Changes - Improvements re payment to linked acc

Hi all,

Just received an e-mail stating the following changes :T

"You can now transfer money into your linked account, in 24 hours, through CHAPS** and also transfer amounts greater than £10,000 in a single instruction to your linked accounts. Simply log into your account and write a transfer instruction by selecting an appropriate subject to your Accounts Manager."

Considering it used to take funds 3-4 days to get to my account, this is excellent news...

In terms of the £10k transfers - I only wish I had that problem to worry about :D

reading the small print at the bottom....

**CHAPS transfer will be charged at £20 per transaction
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • Now if I could just get them to change my linked account that would be excellent. E-mailed them about 6-9 months ago and it still hasn't happened.

CHAPS will attract a charge as previously mentioned.

You did remember to post them a cheque from the new account, didn't you?

I changed over my linked account a few weeks ago and was quite impressed that it took them about a week to sort it. I then proceeded to empty my account. :D

6-9 months via e-mail ! That's because you haven't followed their clearly set out proceedure. I did mine last week in 3 days.

Change the account details on line, send them a cheque for £1.00 from the new account and it's all sorted. Simple really.

Their "clearly set out procedure" is fairly new. I don't think the form in online banking was around back then. It would certainly be worth another try using their new procedure, though.
  • ...I have just opened a Hi Saver account and transfers to date seem to have happened very quickly BUT I do not like transferring payments by Direct Debit...call me old fashioned, but I prefer to be in control and like to do it by standing order. I have done it via First Direct and it works but I thought that I would contact them by e mail just to check if it is OK to transfer money in this way. Their e mail response to my query doesn't answer my question at all - it just gives some sort of standard reply telling me what I already know i.e. how to transfer money via Direct Debit! I wrote again to say that they hadn't answered my question and the next reply told me how to set up recurring transactions by Direct Debit...again - I know how to do that too and was not what I asked.
I am a bit of a pedantic chap I know...but what do others think? Should I just comply with their Direct Debit system, carry on sending money directly from First Direct using a standing order system - or change to Sainsburys Internet saver which pays not much less. I just worry that they may say at some stage...'what money you sent?...Ah - you should have sent it by Direct Debit'!

    Pedantically yours

I contacted them about making BACS payments a long time ago and they had no issue with my intention not to use their dd system. There is also a line in their T&Cs stating that they will accept transfers in from non-linked accounts - clearly these cannot be done by dd.

I transfer money from First Direct all the time - works fine so transfer away to your hearts' content & watch the savings grow...

Aah, I knew there had to be a catch! £20 is not worth it for the sake of a few days...
