selling an old car (V reg)
hello.
my OH is wanting to sell a car of hers, where would be the best place to sell it, bearing in mind that
a)V reg 2000 (1.6 16v)
b)Ford escort Hatchback (Finesse i reckon)
c)~80,000 miles
d)Damage to front bumber, fair dent in rear door.
e)recently passed its MOT (Nov 09) with flying colours.
she did a quote on webuyanythingatrockbottom.com and they came back with £175, which after reading the thread would probalby get knocked down to 80 or something when taken in.
she'll probably be wanting to get a new car mid march time/april, and already has a Ford Ka (02) that she can trade in. the trouble is she wants rid of the escort, at a reasonable price. (parkers quote 350ish for poor condition 90,000 miles, so i reckon getting 400 is not out of the question.)
where best to sell it?

Always found Autotrader pretty good for cars of that age. Think your asking price isn't bad tbh. Sold my 1999 T plate Escort for £500 last year through Autotrader, although it was needing a new clutch, but had less mileage than the one you have.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Ebay. £650-£800 I reckon. Maybe more, maybe less depending on the quality of the listing and pictures.Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0

theres another thread on here where someones timing belt has just snapped on thier renault megane, this sounds an ideal replacement for them.
other than that you should get around £300 to £500 for it,dependant on the damage to the bumper and rear door....work permit granted!0 -
Can;t you sell the KA and trade the escort in on the scrappage scheme or has that finished now?I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0

Glass's are giving a trade in price of £430 if it's in average condition. You should get more if selling privately.
