I have to recommend the book to any new or aspiring cooks out there. It really is excellent! The food tastes good and the recipes are easy! I started cooking seriously by using this book many years ago and I still love it as I'm a bit lazy.

I subscribe to SHE and I never get any of the free gifts - always a surprise when I look on the supermarket shelf!

Same here, I took out a subscription because I thought it would be moneysaving then saw that last month they gave away a nice little notebook and this month the Nigel Slater book. I e mailed them and said how disappointed I was, they replied and said it was due to "rising postage costs"! I ended up buying another copy of the magazine just to get the book!!

Oooh, thanks for those cautionary tales! I was going to subscribe, but I won't bother now! I only ever buy mags if there's a decent freebie with them anyway!

We haven't got them in our area either. Even though the previous months issue bought in the same area was advertising it.
