well, flower to be precise....
..the most perfect, beautiful single red rose?
can anyone tell me how to dry it/ preserve it and make it last forever.
i have vague recollections of my mum puting flowers in the airing cupboard...but i dont really have one of those, so if anyone can suggest anything else i can do, i'd be eternally grateful.

Does anyone know the best way to save an orchid corsage for sentimental purposes?
Thanks in advance.0 -
There are places that will preserve it in a display case for you. Costs a bit though
Otherwise, I don't really know what to suggestComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
perhaps ask in one of the local florist shops? I really don't know as the only method I know of preserving flowers is pressing. Which I'm sure you'd rather not try with an orchid.0

hi my lovely oh bought me flowers yesterday and i would like to keep them after they have given up !
anyone know how to press or dry them so i can keep them?smoke free since 01/02/09 :Tthanks to all those who've helped0 -
I used to press flowers when I was much younger. You can buy specialist presses but my grandma used to do it inside a heavy book with absorbent paper, like blotting paper forming a sandwich around the flowers. You leave it weighted for a few weeks until the flowers have dried out but they sometimes lose a little colour using this method.
This site shows you how to make a simple press http://www.save-on-crafts.com/howtomakyour.html
Fleshy flowers like roses can be dried very well using silica chips which suck the moisture from the plant tissues really well but I don't have any experience of this myself0 -
I have a special flower press which is basically wooden blocks layered with tissue paper which all screws together.
However, my Mum just puts the flowers in pages of her biggest dictionary!!0
