If an accident is not your fault then most solicitors will take your case on a no win - no fee basis so it won't cost you anything anyway.
What andyd says is not true in all cases.
My FIL was hit by a pedestrian (when driving his car) and lost his excess of £120.

A no-win no-fee solicitor will not take on this kind of case.

He got his money back because he had legal protection.
No-win no-fee may work in a lot of cases but NOT ALL.

I would recommend this standalone family legal care policy for £12.
This covers all vehicles plus household.
No connection, but with 3 vechicles and one home, it saves me paying for 4 policies.

If you are already a CSMA member (£15 per year) you automatically get LV legal cover up to £100,000.

Club Secretaries & Managers Association?
  • I think it's worth it!
Years ago my parked car was hit by a drunk who drove off - I had the leagal cover and everything was dealt with by the legal team!
Didn't have to worry and £20 well spent.

Thanks for the mention, can I point out to others though, that this policy is not usually available as a standalone ( I do know of one firm that sells it at £21).. instead its usually provided as an additional benefit of a membership ( as in the way I deal with it) or bundled with other products.

Apparently if you belong to the union UNISON motor legal protection is automatically covered with some insurers, just found that out today!
