Claiming charges by using financial hardship

Hi guys, I'm new to this site and I need help desperatley!!

Over the past few years, I have had lots of bank charges due to returned payments and going over my agreed overdraft limit (due to the bank charges every month) . The charges have been quite substantial. I have managed to keep my payments up to date so far but I have now fallen into arrears with my 2 personal loans and have had to change banks due to Abbey saying that they were going to use my salary to repay the overdraft.

After working out my payments, I'm now left with about £150 for the month to feed my family. Can I claim under financial hardship? Or is there another way around getting the charges refunded?

Please, please help me if anyone can!

If you have a surplus of £150 a month then that is definitely NOT financial hardship but I would claim from the bank the bank charges.

  • Thanks for replying. I have tried in vain to claim the charges but the Abbey do not even acknowledge my letters!

The £150 left at the end of the month is used to feed everyone and used for travelling too and from work.

Any further advice would be much appreciated.

  • It was sent to their accounts dept, I have even spoke to them on the phone and they said that they had recieved the letter but were not going to act on it. They said that I would have to go through the CAB (citizens advice beurea)

It it has been 8 weeks then you have the right to go to the FOS since they have to respond to a written request.
