HBOS doesn't seem to mind customers holding more than one of its cards, as long as you don't apply for two identical ones. For instance, if you held BoS All in One, it may not be wise to apply for Halifax All in One. OTOH, I applied successfully for Halifax Plus whilst keeping a BoS Charity card in my deck.
Obviously, you cannot transfer balances between the Halifax and BoS cards, as both are underwritten by HBOS. Also, there's the possibility that you may be handed a lower limit on the new card to compensate for the credit available on the existing account, so it may make sense to close that down first.
Alternatively, there's no shortage of 0% BT and purchase cards to choose from, if you wanted to play safe and apply to a different lender altogether.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
To help you further, we would need to know which cards you have at the mo or have held recently, also whether you've applied for any unsuccessfully.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

Moggles, do you know if HBOS would allow you to transfer the Credit Limit across from an existing card to the new card in the same way that MBNA do ?
Would be nice if they did :beer:0 -
The last time I enquired, some two to three years ago, I was told this was not possible.Moggles, do you know if HBOS would allow you to transfer the Credit Limit across from an existing card to the new card in the same way that MBNA do?
AFAIK, the practice is pretty well unique to MBNA, although Barclaycard once agreed to it when I closed down one of three B'card accounts, so you never know

No they don't allow this as standard, but you can do it - only if you agree to it with Specialist Lending at outset (or if you get into debt with them and exceed one limit but have excess on the other).....
