Hi,i tried to exchange my rented property namely a 2 bed maisonette, im with a housing association,a person wanted to swap with me,but a north somerset council said i couldnt swap her 2 bed house because im a single person,does anyone know if it would be worth me appealing,as im already in a 2 bed property, and ive had 2 bed house swaps before i cant see the problem,can anyone please give me sound advice.

You can try, but most HA's now insist that you have to be eligible, by their criteria, for the property you are exchanging to, although some take a more relaxed view if you are already in a property that's technically above your 'needs'.
Unless you have health grounds to need a two bed (carer's need to stay overnight sometimes), or you have children or a close relative that needs to stay with you at times, you may have a problem.
Nothing to lose by trying, though.
