SB: Cancel Yellow Pages early?

I tried my luck with the Yellow Pages for the first time this year and so far I have gotten virtually nothing from it. I do get the odd one from yell.com, but the actual paper directory just isn't cutting it for us.

I seem to remember the salesman mentioning that if we got nothing from it and we couldn't afford the monthly payments they would make an exception and either reduce the payment amounts or cancel it altogether with no penalty. At the time I though it was just sales blurb, but now I'm hoping there may be some truth in it?

Has anybody ever successfully cancelled, or at least reduced their payments? Is it even worth pursuing?

  • Bet they might give it consideration. . . . . .
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.

You've signed for a year, you're going to have to pay for it. They aren't going to go round to everybody's house and cross out your advert in their copy of YP are they.

That's the problem with signing up for a yearly directory, if it doesn't work, you're stuck with a very expensive lesson.

True but when their sales talk doesn't ring true is that not bordering on mis-selling? Their predicted call volume just hasn't materialised.

    A advertising salesperson lied about how much buisiness there book/website or phone service would generate!!!!! . . . . . . . . . . . this is truely shocking ;)

It's a lesson we have all had to learn at some point. ALL sales people are full of s**t and just want to part you from your hard earned cash, keep that in mind and your buisiness will flurish:D

That's as maybe, but if you've got nothing in writing you'll have a hard time proving it won't you.
