    The OU does much more in the way of facilitating support/study groups and tutorials than it used to.

    It may not be face to face in the same way, but it shouldn't be a lonely experience.

    Access courses (taught at FE colleges) are basically aimed at people in your situation and are quite flexible. Many people on my course were able to do the course and work part time.

    I am doing an Access Coufrse and am on JSA at the moment. I am still required to look for a job which is up to 40 hours a week, travel up to 1.5 hours each way and be willing to give up my college course (not going to happen!!).
