Chester Help & Ideas

Hi all! My OH and I have just booked a weekend away for a couple of weeks time for my B-day. We're going to Chester as I love giraffes so we're def going to the zoo as they have a new baby! Does anyone know if you can still get cheaper tickets at the Cheshire Oaks Shoppin Centre? ALso, my OH wants to go to the blue reef aquarium (not that we're animal mad or anything!!), does anyone know of any cheap deals for tickets there? And a final question......what else is good to do (bearing in mind it will be cold and knowing my luck probably raining!!) and where is good to eat? Are there any nice english restaurants/bistro's/gastro pubs? I'm not a fan of indian or chinese restaurants. Thankyou!!!

  • Hi Lisa 26. I think that they still do discounted vouchers at Cheshire Oaks. I would suggest Googling for discount vouchers for the zoo and Blue Planet.

There are plenty of places to eat in Chester to suit all tastes and budgets. I would just wander around the town centre and see what takes your fancy. There are so many restaurants, it is difficult to reccomend. However, if you are a real meat lover, I would reccomend Tropeiro.

Also have a look at / ask questions on the trip advisor forum. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Search?q=Chester+forum+UK

    Have a great trip.
  • hi lisa,

Don't worry about the rain, the great thing about Chester is that the best shops ("The Rows") have their own covered walkways, great place to stay dry!

Chester Zoo and Blue Planet are both awesome, enjoy!

    Xmas Saver!
I love Chester, when we go up we eat at a pub called The Queens Head (or The Queen), its facing the Wetherspoons pub, down by Arogos, its proper pub food, take children in, and its really good value, with main courses being around £5.

You can get a bus from Chester to Cheshire Oaks and the Zoo.

Loads of discount vouchers for Chester and environs here - but unfortunately the only one for Chester zoo is for a free kids ticket with two adults.
