I'm about to put my very first item for sale on ebay, advice welcome

Hi everyone.
I dont post often so bear with me. I'm hoping to list my first item for sale on ebay later. It's spare tickets this time but I'm hoping to list other things in the run up to Christmas (got to clear some space for Santa's goodies!)
I've looked at similar listings and it seems straightforward enough, however, they all have feedback etc. I have nothing at all! I have only bought one item myself and that was over 2 years ago.
Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for me before I take the plunge?
Linda
PS Can I specify local pickup/cash on collection for something like tickets. Is it something worth doing?
Thanks in advance

If you have the tickets in hand it should be more reassuring for buyers.

You can certainly offer local pick up but avoid the use of the word cash in the listing as this seems to be causing listings to be pulled.

Obviously you will only want to accept cash on collection - if the buyer pays by Paypal on a collection item you will be unable to prove delivery and would be open to an item not received claim if you happen to sell to a dishonest buyer.

Ebay have suggested that you should write “Please contact me for payment methods to pay upon pick-up”

What sort of value are the tickets? Make sure you send by an appropriate postal method. If they are time sensitive you should use special delivery.

Some people are put off by a low feedback seller (especially on high value items) but all you can do is describe your item fully and accurately. Make sure you start the auction at the lowest price you are willing to accept.

    Good luck.
  • List clearly and include any details that you would ask if you were buying.

Include real photos, you may want to block out seat numbers etc.

Stipulate special delivery, or cash on collection. Do not take Paypal and then arrange local collection.

You may find that as you have low feedback your bids may not be as high as you would like, but give a clear, concise and professional listing and you will get as much as you can. There is a lot of opinion on when to list (when to end to get max etc) I only use BINS, so you may want to ask advise on listing days.
